BASEBALL

Players benefit from baseball because it introduces them to an important part of their culture and encourages healthy physical activity. Participation in youth baseball provides players an opportunity to learn the game, compete safely and effectively, develop physical coordination, and to get along with one another.

Ages for baseball are 6 thru 18 using April 30th as the age determination date.

Baseball season consists of practices beginning in April and games in April, May and June. Normal scheduling consists of at least two practices each week during the practice season and at least two games each week during the game season. The regular season for in house leagues is concluded with a play off consisting of all teams in the league. The regular season for inter borough leagues is concluded according to league format. Most leagues offer the opportunity to play in post season tournaments.

Uniform shirts and hats are provided under the registration fee. Players are to provide their own grey pants and ball glove. Mouth guards, protective cups, batting gloves, socks and sliding shorts are not provided by the association but are recommended. Batting helmets, bats, and catchers gear are provided by the BAA on a very limited basis however personal batting helmets and catchers gear, are recommended.
